What does it mean when an interviewer is rude? For the first time last night, I actually could hear the hard drive working. Repairable? Yeah, I would expect the only thing harder on a motor than getting up to speed is braking (stopping).

Who knows how much longer before that drive gets worse and worse. Happily, I called it a day and switched off the computer. Time consuming but painless. You could use something like SpinRite [grc.com] to see if you can repair the HDD if the SeaTools does not work for you. Sfc I think the model # is WD800JD.
