It's what I did and I don't have the issue at all with 3 HDDs on 2 separate controllers. I use to use Ubuntu quite a bit, but all the more I really use my laptop for is to play games, so Ubuntu has been getting used less and less Other notes: besides the OS, no changes to the system, which I built.
