I can be watching a movie on Netflix, a video on Youtube or listening to music on iTunes and the same thing happens. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later. Hp Laptop Volume Decreases Automatically
Nothing has worked. After the 2 days, it's gotten worse. Let's take a look at these three issues in reverse order. I have a Pavilion dv7-1135nr and have been having the same issues.

I find that I often miss people's messages to me because WLM does not... Can anyone help me with this? That is, does the level of treble and bass change? I have realtek, strange thing is, I cant find it after I installed an update here, lol ...sp37537 .
My job depends on hearing music and watching videos on my computer and I've lost a tremendous amount of time trying to figure this thing out. Then it goes silent. Good luck! I'm starting to think this is a hardware issue, but troubleshooting using headphones is difficult. There was never any older driver on the system that was free of the problem so I have not tried any older drivers, only the two most recent ones.

I've tried installing drivers and even contacted HP and purchased what I was told was the sound card (the card that all the jacks go into). POSIX), that system files should be lower case? Voila, that seems to have fixed the erratic volume changing on its own issue, but this is still just a work around since it is working at the expense of my I just bought this laptop a year ago, things shouldnt be going wrong already. The same thing when I upgraded to Windows 7. I have to cut that off and put another one in its place.

I managed to get the OSD to go away by killing the process, but the volume is still going up and down on its own. The volume returns to normal after pausing or muting the audio for a few seconds and then restarting it but then fades right back down to nearly nothing.
You may have a USB device that has an issue. It plays for a while and then goes silent. But it turns out that my backup software was messed up too! So far, nothing I have tried has turned it backon, including restarting, configuring speakers, etc.
