After the restart the keyboard and touch pad is gone again. The solution is on Toshiba's bulliten. Please tell us all exceptions, that occurred (if). Thoughts? check over here

Restart, reinstall drivers and other experiments was not successful, 'cause there must be an error in updating software, which crashes the register!!! I used the on screen keyboard to unlock my computer. Enter your model number here: https://web1.toshiba.ca/support/isg/index.asp it should list the touchpad solution. Noticed you voiced your complaint in 2010. It was horrible for me, 'cause keyboard was disabled only 2 seconds after boot, so I can't start windows in safe mode or other solution. It is a slightly different model. (L305D-S5974) I was in the process of projecting the display onto a wide screen tv. Sorry for my bad english, not my native language.

Made my night! Somehow I guess I uninstalled the laptop keyboard & touchpad because they no longer appeared in device manager. Device drivers have been replaced and reinstalled, registry has been cleaned... I've got a friend with a Toshiba L305D-S5934.

No keyboard action. Restoring to 2 days ago didn't work but restoring to the prior restore point (5/12 I think) worked. The only steady way to fix this crash in this time is edit the registry keys, as I wrote above. In my case I had to hold down the power key to force a power-off.
