- Anyway there's a discussion thread - Basically you install the boot media on the SD card, use a card reader to read and boot from it.
- ReadyBoost *is* working correctly (although I don't use it) with USB flash drives.
- Also, it has been running fine for over a week.
- I then put the card in my camera where it was recognised fine, I could even see the pics I'd copied back to it while Windows *was* seeing it properly.

This same SD card (which I use in my Canon camera) works just fine in another VAIO I own. My internal multi card reader has been working fine for just under a year but just recently it has stopped recognising SD cards. I tried several things, Turn off AutoPlay in Control Panel Then I found if I go to explorer, right click the drive, then click Eject, that worked. But, the other day, I tried to use the integrated SD card reader and - - - nothing happened.

It has never recognized the presence of my 2GB SD card in it's native slot on the side of the computer in any of the iterations of Windows I've installed. It then opens an explorer window for the card. I chose Photo. It's been over a year for me and I've never been able to find a solution.

And a load of Adobe software seems to have been updated recently. What has been done to the system in the time prior to the card issue, and after the last known good read/write to the cards? Explorer thinks I have nothing in the slot. I even tried to format (in Disk Manager) one of the cards but it did nothing, just sat there for ages.

Annoying but usable. Let us know if anything worked for you, or if you found another way to solve your problem. It functions as a local drive (because I don't have enough HDD space in my tablet), therefore I need a solution so that I won't accidentally lose data forever. I have SD Host Adapter in my Device Manager.
A red light comes on when I do this on the USB stick. However, the little amber idiot light next to the SD card slot does blink twice whenever I physically insert the card. I have a fair amount of software that came on CD/DVD, and obviously I could get an external DVD RW for not much money and install MS Office 2010, Lightroom 5 Tick the empty box adjacent to Run this program in “Compatibility mode” and select previous version of Windows supported by the software, from the drop down list.
If anyone can give me a hand getting this fixed I would certainly appreciate it.
