- Hi, You haven't said why you wanted to run Scannow, but I suspect it's because you have corrupted files.

It's quite possible that you are infected with a Trogan that is known to cause this problem. Vista performance & maintenance sfc \scannow helpHi, I'm trying to follow the instructions given at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 . Hopefully that will resolve after a reboot.

Details are included... I was able to do the scan. I verified this by watching the performance tab of task manager (I am on Windows 10) and seeing that disk activity dropped back down to 0. T h e f i l e w a s n o t r e p a i r e d .
