Second GPU Doesn't Work On Y500 Under Windows 10
My nvidia hardware id had somehow just changed from 11E1 to 11E2 , that is why error 31 not same as POSTed and nvidia refusing to install. My impression now is that when I decided to go forward with the free upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, Windows Update somehow disabled my graphics card. Old problem but new operating system and different problems but single solution! Do you also have this problem? Turn on the system, and you'll encounter the keyboard's red backlighting. spent hours with ASUS tech trying to resolve this issue yesterday and ended up doing a full system restore and then re-upgrading to win 8.1 (with the problem coming back of After hours of trying, I finally found the answer (which is quite straightforward and easy):1) download the latest drivers at nvidia.com (but don't install yet)2) uninstall all current nvdia drivers: in Right-click on Desktop and select "Display settings" option. The solution is stupid.You have to flash your bios with the latest version, even if it's already up to date, and everything works like normal now. Some would no doubt say that you don't need touch for Windows 8, or that with a few tweaks, you can stay in the traditional desktop view most of the time. Detect Graphics Card Windows 10 Issue fixed. It's not as staid as the much more traditional ThinkPad line, but instead takes basic black plastic and brushed metal and adds a sophisticated edge. Years ago, one would very occasionally run into a laptop with swappable accessories, but I'm glad to see the idea is still around, at least in this system. I figured, why not shut down and try booting back up and hopefully the same thing will happen. You can get drivers from the Nvidia website.
I was using the stock v306 drivers. Still someone wrote that Win10 works fine on Y500. I then noticed my secondary GPU doesn't even show up in Device manager. LONIE C.
